It is recommended if cancerous growth is spread to major areas of eye and chances of metastasis to local or regional areas is high. In some cases, cancerous infection may target iris and can be treated by a surgical method called iridectomy. Eyewall resection is a rare surgical method applied to remove tumors by making temporary cuts in eye.

Infected choroid layer can be removed by a surgery called choroidectomy. Iridocyclectomy is an important surgical process recommended to remove infected portion of ciliary body and iris. Orbital exenteration is a surgery done to treat advanced or recurrent eye cancer and involves removal of eyelids and surrounding skin, eyes, nerves within the scope of eye region, and orbital muscles.
